Tanzanian singer Bahati Bukuku has rubbished rumours doing rounds on social media that she died in a grisly road accident.
In an interview with Planet Bongo on EA Radio, the “Dunia Haina Huruma” singer said that those who were spreading the false rumour only wanted to ruin her reputation.
“It is only God who knows when I will die. Those people who are publishing the false reports believe that they would ruin my reputation and consequently reduce the number of people who appreciate my work. The devil’s plan won’t succeed,” she said.
She also said that the matter had been reported to the police and that an investigation had already been launched to find out those who were behind the rumour.
The singer is the latest celebrity to be killed by the internet. Over the last few weeks public figures such as OJ and Willy M Tuva have come out to dismiss death reports.
