Jackline Mwende whose hands were chopped off by her husband two weeks ago will get free electronic prosthetic limbs worth Sh10 million shillings. They will be paid for by LG Electronics.
PCEA Kikuyu hospital chief orthopedic surgeon Michael Maru said today that Mwende will get the electric limbs because of her age. She is 27-years-old. LG committed to covering the woman's surgery while Governor Alfred Mutua's wife Lilian Nganga said she will get free medical care, including counseling until she recovers fully.
"Mwende will be fitted with the prosthetics once the infection on her right hand is healed," the doctor said.
Nganga said Mwende will also be provided with a housekeeper whose services will be paid for by the county for a year.
Mwende's husband Stephen Ngila cut off her hands and hacked her head with a machete, accusing her of not bearing children after seven years of marriage.
