Children are normally urged to strive to pass their KCPE exams because that will ensure they get called to a great school. This rationale is logical but does not account for other factors, especially economic ones. The next girl in this story is a tragic story of a person doing all they can to succeed but circumstances conspiring to put her down.

The 14-year-old has been forced to ditch her dream of becoming a surgeon because her mother can’t afford to pay her school fees. Mediatrix Ngai sat for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination in 2017 at Musoli Primary School in Ikolomani constituency.

To help Mediatrix, reach her mother Alice on 0701010211.
