George Weah was a punchline for reaching above one's station in life. But now he is laughing last as he was elected president of Liberia this past week. You will remember that many of his detractors stated that a former sportsman has no business leading a nation.

Weah would have won the Liberian presidency years ago if he was not severely impeded by a vicious campaign by opponents that he was illiterate. (His opponent was the Harvard-trained Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf). That attack stung, and he went back to school and got a degree. He then polished up as a politician with a stint in the Liberian senate.

For those of you with crazy and wild dreams, Weah should be the model for one to aspire to. If Weah can make it and become the leader of a country of former slaves then, your dreams should also be achievable.
