American actor and pop singer Billy Porter showed celebrities how to put on a show as he wore a jaw-dropping display on the Oscars red carpet in Hollywood.

Yester night,the 49-year-old proved that life imitates art during the 91st edition of the Oscars’s red-carpet.

The American Horror Story alum turned heads in an astonishing tuxedo-gown for the star-studded event.

He shared the red-carpet moment above on his instagram and captioned it:

The Grammy winning entertainer’s unmissable outfit was designed by Christian Siriano and boasted a ballgown bottom and classic tuxedo top which also featured ruffled sleeves and a long train.

The statement dress was made entirely of black velvet and was topped off with a classic black bow tie, also in velvet.

As well as his starring role in the Ryan Murphy created series, Porter has enjoyed a successful stage and music career.

He won the 2013 Tony Award for Best Actor In A Musical for his role as Lola in Kinky Boots.He also wrote the play While I Yet Live, which premiered Off-Broadway in 2014.

Billy helped out with red carpet duties too, as part of the ABC telecast.The Pennsylvania native introduced and interviewed stars like Serena Williams, Jordan Peele and former winner Emma Stone.

Other celebrities such as Rami Malek,Chris Evans and Paul Rudd are among the men celebrties who slayed at the 91st edition of the Oscars.
