On Friday,  Human Rights Activist Boniface Mwangi broke the internet with news that he and his family were detained for several hours by boarder police in Paris, France due to lack of  Schengen visas. Boniface Mwangi and his family were mistaken for illegal immigrants hence barred from travelling.

Boniface Mwangi took to social media to narrate how his family spent the night in the cold, at the Paris International Airport and this evoked various reactions among Kenyans who accused France for racism a move which prompted the French Embassy in Kenya to issue an apology to Boniface Mwangi and his family. The Embassy also offered to give him and his family visas to visit France but Boniface Mwangi has made it clear that he will only travel if they pay for the trip.

Boniface Mwangi also thanked those who supported him during the difficult time till when he arrived home. This is What he wrote on his Official Facebook Page:

"Thank you Kenya Airways for the great service, picking my family from the plane in Kenya when we landed and ensuring we got home sooner. The French Embassy in Kenya has apologised and offered to give my family visas to visit France. Unless they are paying for that trip,we will not go.

When Kenya police 'harassed' a U.S. teenager 'on accusations of looking like British terrorism suspect Samantha Lewthwaite', our government apologised and offered the teenager and her family a free trip to Kenya. Air France promised to look into the matter and we are waiting for their official response."
