Former Presidential Aspirant Loses Divorce Case After Her Husband Denied Marrying Her

A Former Presidential Aspirant in the 2007 general election Nazlin Umar has today lost a case against businessman Madatur Chatur where is seeking more than Sh280 million as upkeep and dowry.

Nazlin sued Mr Chatur in 2011 claiming that he married her under Islamic ShariaLaw in 2010. But Chatur has denied marrying the politician.

When she filed the case, Nazlin told the court that Chatur had promised to pay Sh200 million as dowry and a Mercedes Benz.

Ms Umar was once accused of stealing vehicles and mobile phones from Tariq Hussein between April 24 and July 7, 2009. She allegedly stole three unregistered Range Rover vehicles worth Sh21 million.
