Football Kenya Federation Boss Sam Nyamweya Wins Again

Football Kenya Federation issues the following communiqué following a meeting by our President Sam Nyamweya, FIFA President Sepp Blatter and Senior officials of the FIFA Secretariat.

The meetings took place today, Monday, February 9, 2015 at FIFA House in Zurich, Switzerland.

1. FIFA President Sepp Blatter assured FKF President Sam Nyamweya that the world body does not intend to give any directives on the matter because the federation has shown proper leadership by using dialogue to reach an amicable the solution.

2. FIFA is fully behind Football Kenya Federation and its commitment to finding a local solution to the impasse on the expansion of the Premier League to 18 teams.

3. President Blatter reaffirmed that the Independent Expert Consultant's report was a recommendation that is not binding but only meant to guide the discussions towards procurement of a local solution.

4. President Blatter has directed President Nyamweya to immediately convene a meeting of all the parties to pursue a local solution and one that would be acceptable to the Federation, sponsors as well as the clubs.

5. President Blatter has further warned that FKF members are bound by the Code of Ethics and applicable Statutes, and contrast thereof must be punished by stern disciplinary measures. At the end of this round of discussions, the World body is willing to send its officials to help in actualizing of the way forward.

6. All officials, including referees and match commissioners will only officiate in the league run and sanctioned by Federation and those in defiance will face disciplinary sanctions as per the applicable Statutes.

7. FIFA President Sepp Blatter has graciously accepted an invitation to visit Kenya in the next few weeks to preside over the official opening of the Kisumu Stadium, whose artificial turf laying was funded by the world governing body.

By notice of this communiqué, parties are advised accordingly. Further direction in the process of finding a local solution shall be issued.
