Football in heaven! Details of Joe Kadenge's last send off

Over a year ago, Kenya's football icon Joe Kadenge foretold of his death.

This was during a press conference

When the football icon walked into the Serena Hotel gardens for a press conference, he stunned many of the sports journalists seated waiting for him.

"NITAENDA KUCHEZA MPIRA HUKO JUU, MBINGUNI KUNA UWANJA MKUBWA SANA," KADENGE SAID, POINTING AT THE SKY AS HE WALKED TOWARDS THE DESIGNATED SPOT IN FRONT OF TV CAMERAS.

This admission of his mortality brought tears to some journalists, who did not think it is a funny joke.

This was not the last of his comments about the matter.

DURING THE PRESS CONFERENCE HE SAID, "I HAVE BEEN SICK FOR A YEAR NOW. I WAS TELLING MYSELF, 'I'M GOING. I DON'T HAVE DAYS IN THIS WORLD.' MAYBE, I WILL PLAY MORE SOCCER IN HEAVEN. I THOUGHT I WAS WELL ON MY WAY TO HEAVEN BUT GOD HAS TAKEN CARE OF ME. AND I'M STILL HERE."

Joe Kadenge, 84, died on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at a Nairobi hospital after a long struggle with illness.

Know as the best striker Kenya has ever produced, many mourned his loss.

Joe Kadenge's burial programme has been released.

Yesterday, there was a funeral fundraiser meeting by members of the sports fraternity at  Railways Club.

On Saturday 13th, there will be a Legends Mini Fundraising from 2pm at City Stadium.

This will be followed by a football tournament in honour of Joe Kadenge at City Stadium the following day.

Next ween on Tuesday 16, there will be the main fundraising in aid of the funeral budget at Charter Hall from 4 pm.

On Wednesday 17, family, friends and fans will gather for a requiem mass at Friends International church on Ngong Road from 10 am.

On Thursday 18, the legend's body will be airlifted to Bukhungu Stadium for public viewing of the body.

On Friday 19, there will be a football match in honour of the legend. AFC Leopards vs Vihiga United.

Joe Kadenge will then be laid to rest on Saturday 20.
