The much anticipated Mashemeji Derby was called off on the 65th minute after a section of AFC Leopards fans started pelting stones into the field forcing the officials to stop the game. After moments of unfruitful attempts at an intervention, the match commissioner Paul Kaunda had no choice but to call off the match due to ‘security reasons’ leaving the die hard football fans disappointed.

All this began when Gor Mahia was awarded a penalty after AFC Leopards defender Jackson Saleh handled the ball giving the centre referee Peter Nduati no option but to award K'ogalo a penalty. This comes barely a month after Gor Mahia fans set ablaze three cars in the city center.

Hooliganism seems to be back to our stadium. Let's wait and see what action the football governing body will take. The match was still 0-0 when it was aborted.
