LA Lakers star Kobe Bryant died after his private helicopter a Sikorsky-76B crashed in Calabasas, California on Sunday.

The 41-year-old basketballer was on board with his daughter Gianna and seven other people.

According to online outlets, the helicopter was manufactured in 1991.

Kobe used to rent the luxury helicopter, which many compared to a limousine, used to fly from his home in Orange County to work before he bought it.

The helicopter was owned by the State of Illinois from 2007 until 2015 when then-Governor Bruce Rauner put it up for sale.

Kobe Bryant is said to have purchased the helicopter in 2015 before he retired in 2016.
