Floyd Mayweather Stripped Of Title He Won In Pacquiao Fight

Floyd Mayweather has officially been stripped of the WBO welterweight belt he took from Filipino Manny Pacquaio in the May historic fight. This is after the he failed to pay a  200,000 pounds sanctioning fee after the Pacquiao fight, where he earned more than 220 million pounds.

“The WBO World Championship Committee is allowed no other alternative but to cease to recognize Mr. Floyd Mayweather Jr. as the WBO Welterweight Champion of the World and vacate his title,”  WBO said in a statement.

Questions were raised over Mayweather's victory and right now he has two weeks to launch an appeal.The American, who is unbeaten in 48 fights, also holds the WBC and WBA titles. Word is that he is set to retire in September after his last fight with a yet to be named opponent.
