Samuel Abisai or Abi as some ladies are fondly referring to him after his good fortune on Monday, is a name that has got tongues wagging the whole week. However, here are five things about the winner that most people have no idea about:

1. He speaks and writes Chinese fluently

Abisai studied Chinese at the University of Nairobi and proceeded to study the language further in China through an exchange programme between the Chinese government and UoN. He had started off as a Bachelor of Economics student but dropped the course after first year to pursue something different and increase his chances of getting a job.

He was inspired to take up Chinese Language studies following the influx of Chinese investors in the country.

2. Sorry ladies but he is taken

The newest dollar millionaire in the country has a steady girlfriend who is currently studying at a local university. The two have a baby daughter who will most probably grow up in so much luxury unlike his father who came from a humble background where even shoes were a luxury.

3. Speaking of shoes……..

He got his first pair of shoes at age six when scouts of multinational charity, Compassion International discovered him on the streets of Kakamega Town hawking paper bags to earn a living. His parents were and still are sisal rope sellers who were struggling to raise their large family.

Compassion then took Abisai off the streets, clothed him and his siblings and donated household basics such as blankets to the family; a gesture he is very thankful for today.

4. He is a clothes designer

Besides being a salesman for a Chinese company that sells painting and tinting merchandise, Abisai’s side hustle is making Ankara clothes. His Facebook page is awash with his unique designs which are especially popular among the ladies. One of his top of the mind uses for the cash is to expand his tailoring business.

Yes, and you thought he would rest on his laurels? Well, think again.

5. On Football

His favorite local football club is Kakamega Homeboyz followed closely by AFC Leopards. On the English Premier League, Chelsea is his best.
