Fashionistas are going to suffer following a fire which razed Kibra’s Toi Market at 4am on Tuesday. With a budget of Sh1,000, women are able to get 3 pretty dresses and have some change.
Dresses go for as little as Sh300 and with a good wash and ironing, a woman can slay and look like the dress cost upwards of Sh4,000.
The market is a favourite for women who want to get the latest fashion items at an affordable price and location. From trendy dresses to jeans, the market is known for offering quality items at a reasonable price. The market’s location is also a plus because it is Adams Arcade, which has less hassle than other markets such as Gikomba or Muthurwa.
Women from all walks of life visit the market to get the latest fashion trends. Even YouTubers have put together fashion hauls with dresses. They include Wabosha Maxine, Sharon Mwangi and Joanna Kinuthia.
It is not uncommon to see vendors shouting, “Mia tatu tu” (only Sh300) at any woman who passes by.
Toi market fire is reported to have razed property worth millions of shillings. Security forces are keeping area residents and traders at bay as they fight the fire.
