Unemployment still a major problem in Kenya. Most people live under poverty line despite the government's efforts to reduce the rate of unemployment.

Nairobi County boss Evans Kidero in conjunction with Majid Al Futtaim, a leading shopping mall across the Middle East and North Africa have created employment opportunities for over 460 jobless youths in Kenya.

Through his Facebook account, Kidero announced the good news and here is what he said.

"460 Youths in Nairobi County are set to benefit with the coming in of Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East and North Africa. In the spirit of attracting and creating more investor opportunities in Nairobi County, Majid Al Futtaim will be opening two (2) major Low priced and value based supermarkets and stores in the City by November this year.

One will be located in Karen whereas another in Two Rivers, Runda. Frank Moreau, will be the Country Manager-Kenya and Emmanuel Naud, Store General Manager-The Hub.

I am excited that Nairobi is slowly becoming a huge investment hub for business owners. This investment will secure jobs for at least 460 Nairobians. The Karen Store will host a total of 120 shops to be used by the locals for various business activities’

Majid Al Futtaim is a successful Group with 74 supermarkets and stores in 14 Countries Worldwide. They also will be looking into adopting one Nairobi City County school as one of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects.

This further confirms Nairobi City as one of the most preferable investment destinations in Africa and we are yet to see more of this. This investment opportunity will present a choice of variety to our well deserving resident and above all create more employment opportunities to the residents of Nairobi City."
