Miss World Nyamira Mercy Mokeira suffered a lot before she died on Saturday, January 28.

In an interview with eDaily, her father, Josephat Momanyi recounted the days leading to her death and how the 23-year-old had to endure so much pain before she gave up the ghost.

He said Mokeira called him after returning from an event in Tanzania and informed him that she had symptoms of malaria but the doctors could not establish what was wrong with her.

Momanyi said he asked her daughter to travel to Gilgil so that they can take her to hospital. When she went, he took her to hospital but the test didn't show what was ailing her.

They then visited a Naivasha hospital for advanced laboratory testing but still no successful diagnosis was made. They were later reffered to Kijabe Hospital.

Momanyi said he discovered that her daughter - who was to graduate from KU in June this year with a with a Bachelor Degree in Law - had lost 5Kgs, from 45 down to 40.

She was diagnosed with thyroid disease at Kijabe Hospital and put on medication. However, Mokeira was still losing weight though she was eating normally.

They took her back to the hospital in Gilgil after her condition worsened. Momanyi said her mouth would fill up will saliva and she had to feed using a tube which was inserted through her nose into the stomach.

After conducting several tests, doctors failed to establish what was wrong with Mokeira. He was then reffered to North Kinangop Hospital where he got the same answers.

The model was given antibiotics and her blood sample was taken to Lancet Laboratories in Nairobi on Tuesday, January 24.

Momanyi informed that he should pick the results on Wednesday, January 25 and he asked Mokeira's sister to look after her while he was away.

Before he picked the results on Saturday morning, he received a call that her daughter was pronounced dead at 11:30 am.
