Doreen Mashika is more than an African designer. She combines the African couture with contemporary tastes to make a nice combination. She's primarily based in Zanzibar.

Her design collection was “Vogue's favorite shop in Zanzibar” in 2011. This was documented in the May issue British Vogue that year. In 2014, she participated in the African Designers For Tomorrow Competition and emerged winner.

She beat other finalists in the prize, including Diana Opoti, Ingrid Tamborin, Franklin Saiyalel, Linda Murithi, Marc Oliver and Evgeniya Khromina.

She will thus be participating at the Vogue Salon in Berlin Germany, during the Berlin Fashion Week which takes place between 19th to 23rd January 2015.
