Comedian Paul Wakimani Ogutu has for the first time spoken about the late Ayeiya’s family suing him.
Wakimani was in the same car with Ayeiya, his wife, and another friend when they were involved in an accident that took away Ayeiya’s life. He was the one driving the car.
Recently, comedian Zeddy disclosed that Wakimani was depressed and he contemplated selling his kidney at some point to pay Ayeiya’s family, which is demanding Sh21 million for compensation.
WA KIMANI HAYUKO PAHALI PAZURI… UNAKUMBUKA ILE ACCIDENT YENYE AYEIYA ALIKUFA? HE WAS THE ONE DRIVING THE CAR AND AYEIYA’S FAMILY WANTS HIM TO PAY THEM KSH21 MILLION FOR LOSING THEIR SON. HE HAS BEEN BATTLING WITH DEPRESSION SINCE THEN.THERE IS A TIME WE TALKED AND HE TOLD ME MANZE ZEDDY NIMEFIKA MWISHO NATAKA KUCHUKUA MANILA PAPER NIENDE NIKAUZE FIGO PALE NYAYO [I HAVE NO OTHER MEANS AND I’M CONTEMPLATING SELLING MY KIDNEY].
Speaking in an interview that was posted on social media, Wakimani said what Zeddy had said earlier on Jalango’s Youtube Channel was true.
After the accident, we buried Ayeiya and I thought everyone understood that it was an accident. But after a week or two, Ayeiya’s wife called me and told me she had my letter and we should meet I take it. I met her on the following day and she served me with a court order indicating that I’m supposed to pay Sh21 million for killing her husband,’ Wakimani said.
He added that he has been trying hard to make things work between him and the late’s family but in vain. The case is already in court.
The lawyer told me that Ayeiya [whose real name is Emmanuel Makori Nyambane] was earning Sh300,000 every month. So since he was earning 300k and died at 31,he was supposed to be retiring at 55 years old. They did the calculation for the remaining 24 years… I was also asked to pay for the damages. The case is in court.
Remembering the fateful day Ayeiya passed away, he said,
It was the day he had made a comeback to Churchill show. He called me to go and pick him up. I was coming from my own show along Ngong road. At some point, I’ll have to retrieve the phone calls for them to understand. My fans don’t have to see me as a person who can sacrifice a friend. He was a friend and that’s why since then I’ve fallen out but I hope I’ll be back.
