Famous Athlete In Big Trouble For Attempting To Con Several People Using Fake Documents

World record holder Daniel Kipngetich Komen was today  charged in court with six counts of forgery and obtaining money by false pretenses.

Komen who currently holds the world record for the 3000 metres both outdoors is also an aspiring MCA for the Racecourse ward in Eldoret.

The athlete was in court today, before Milimani Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Njagi after he was accused of several counts of forgery.

The famous athlete was accused that in 2013 at Nakumatt Junction with intent to defraud he obtained a Suzuki Escudo worth Sh 1.75 million shillings from Thomas Getanguta, by pretending that he was in a position to pay for it.

He also faced a second count of forgery where it is allegedly that in September 2015 at unknown place he forged a motor vehicle sale agreement of a Suzuki Escudo from him to Nicholas Odhiambo while purporting it to be genuine.

On the same date, he also allegedly uttered a false document to Cecilia Muthoni. He also accused of forging an acknowledgement letter of receipt of 780,000 shillings dated December 2014 purporting it to be a genuine acknowledgement of cash received from Nicholas Odhiambo.

He also faced a sixth count of issuing a bad cheque in May 28 ,2014, where he reportedly gave a cheque of 300,000 shillings from his CFC stanbic Account to Nicholas Odhiambo, when he knew that it had insufficient funds.

He denied all the charges and was freed on bond of Ksh 500,000 or bail of Ksh 300,000. The matter will be heard on 19th May this year while it will be mentioned in April 26,2017.
