Sexy TV siren Betty Kyallo recently spoke out about her separation from her husband, NTV's investigative journalist Dennis Okari.

The two media bigwigs were the envy of the town back in 2015 and before they said 'Yes I Do' to each other, their highly anticipated wedding was publicized by tabloids, blogs and even newspapers leaving many dying of jealousy but what many didn't know was that Dennis and Betty's relationship wasn't a perfect match. They were just pretending to make us think that all was well in paradise and that they were the Barrack and Michelle Obama of the local Showbiz industry.

In 2014 February, Betty and Okari graced the True Love magazine for the first time and many were convinced that they would forever be together and age gracefully from the sweet stories they shared but oh no! That was not meant to be.

Recently, Betty revealed to the same magazine that she was not mature yet and didn't want the neither the wedding nor the marriage but because of the image they had created out there of the "power couple" she agreed

"I felt it was still very premature and we had no story to tell. I was just learning the ropes and the idea of getting married was also just settling in. So I wasn't sure if our story would have depth. You can imagine being engaged at 23, what do you know? But when you are in love, you easily get influenced by what your partner thinks and feels. And so Dennis managed to convince me to take the opportunity. And we looked amazing and the pictures looked great," said Betty.

Adding that;

"We were quickly labelled the 'power couple', the 'hottest media couple' - and honestly. I found it a little overwhelming. It made me uncomfortable"

Branded the "couple of the year" back then, Betty and Okari were on the radar of their followers and they had to be perfect in everything they did which Betty revealed made her uncomfortable

"When we put ourselves out there, we started dealing with other things that were not present before. l was three months' pregnant when we did the first TRUELOVE cover and I felt we were not being honest, partly because I did not want to share the pregnancy news in the magazine as I felt it would jinx it, and partly because I was raised up to believe in the institution of marriage and I did not want my baby to be born out of wedlock. So like any other 'normal' couple, I wanted to be married before the baby arrived and a decision was made."

The multi-talented TV girl who is giving her counterparts a run for their money had dated Okari for quite a while and was left with no option but settle for at least a traditional wedding before the arrival of their baby.

"This was the first mistake. Many young people do this. You want to do things because it is right. I was a personality and I wanted the baby to be born in an institution of marriage. But when we started preparations for the traditional wedding, the cracks started to show. A week and a half to the ceremony, certain things about me were said by my partner's family, and my family found out. They weren't happy."

Betty's mother wanted the best for her and being the supportive mother she is, she decided to let it go and carried on with the preparations hoping that all would go well.

"The traditional wedding, not the church wedding, was always going to be my dream wedding"

Adding that;

"It's the colourfulness of the ceremony, the singing. the excitement of choosing your bride amongst other girls... all this was fascinating to me and I wanted mine to be perfect. So I was super excited. My parents had invited family from all over. My relatives from Khwisero in Western. Mwingi in Eastern and Mombasa in Coast were all present. Even my mum's church and chama friends came. We must have had about 250 people or more invited on that day."

Just like any other young woman, the mother of one was excited and looking forward to that traditional wedding but all did not go well.

"I NEEDED TO FIND OUT WHAT TIME THEIR ENTOURAGE WOULD ARRIVE. BUT HE DID NOT PICK UP MY CALL. I TRIED CALLING HIM AGAIN AFTER AN HOUR AND ONCE AGAIN IT WENT UNANSWEREd."

Betty's parents also tried to contact Okari and his family, but again, their calls went unanswered too.

"AT 3PM, WHEN WE TRIED TO CALL AGAIN, ALL THEIR PHONES WERE OFF. BY THE TIME THE SUN WAS GOING DOWN, IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT I HAD BEEN STOOD UP ON MY TRADITIONAL WEDDING."

Betty Kyallo's story has touched many and Kenyans among them former TV presenter Janet Mbugua took to social media to congratulate Betty for her openness in the interview with True Love and for being such a strong woman.

"#BettymmuteiKyallo you are a strong woman. Great interview @Truelove_ea" Janet wrote.
