Don't be fooled into believing there's no money in Kenya. This country has some of the richest people in the world who own the most expensive houses in Kenya.

A report by New World Wealth showed that nearly two-thirds of Kenya’s Sh4.3 trillion ($50 billion) economy is controlled by a group of 8,300 super-wealthy individuals. These are some of the people who own the highly-priced properties in the country.

Nairobi is the best performing prime residential market in the world, and some of the prices on the most expensive houses might shock many.

We have compiled a list (in no particular) of some of the most expensive homes that can be found in Kenya.

Magnolia Hills

This six-bedroom home which is located at Magnolia Hills was designed by Kenya’s great architects Mehraz Ehsani.

According to ZANA International “The design of the house is a modern interpretation of life in the Kenyan countryside, where people enjoy brilliant sun-filled days and the beauty of nature, while at night, retire to the darker spaces intended for sleep.”

The house is easily capable of accommodating 200 – 250 guests.

The price was placed at KSh 600 million.

I need to point out that even though it took 10 months to build this house, it took me 20 years to get to where I am now. I bought my first piece of land at 27. It was two-and-a half acres worth Sh 100,000. When I sold it 20 years later, it was worth Sh 20 million. Tuju

Mwai Kibaki's Sh500 million Mweiga Home

Even though the former President Mwai Kibaki doesn't live in the State-financed home in Mweiga, it's one of the most expensive houses.

The house has a swimming pool and a Jacuzzi. It also has a health club and an in-house canteen for entertaining guests.

Sh400 Million Kenya Deputy President Official Residence

The Sh400 million official Deputy President residence is built on a 10-acre piece of land in Karen. It has two 3 bedroom maisonettes for the house keeper and the deputy. There are also houses for security officers and the rest of the staff. This is the second residence constructed for Kenya’s Vice President after the first one was converted into a personal property by former President Moi.
