Lydia KM calls on creatives struggling with mental health to seek therapy

Podcaster and content creator Lydia KM is not a stranger to cyberbullying.

She spoke to Mpasho's Kalondou Musyimi, in an exclusive interview, about dealing with her mental health arising from online attacks.

Lydia was attending a two-day regional summit dubbed the Hearth Summit in Nairobi, where as a panelist, she touched on a conversation around the wellbeing of the creative industry.

Lydia is concerned about mental health in the creative industry.

"Creatives, we are the ones who get the most feedback, alot of times being the thoughts leaders and pushing forward, alot of the narratives that we want to push. So, we are kind of standing in a space where we speak sometimes for the people but also, we are attacked by the people."

Flourishing as an artist, according to Lydia requires nourishing your mental health. 

She spoke about emotional ups and downs including cyberbullying. Mental Health is a topic of increasing importance in the creative industries.

"It can be really tough so what you wanna do is make sure that you are anchored in a really good space"

Lydia often tackles therapy issues online, disclosing she has to constantly take care of her mental health. 

She goes to therapy twice a month. 

Lydia is a co-host with Murugi Munyi for the TMI Podcast that celebrated its 3rd anniversary since inception.

Lydia told Mpasho that she has tips to help her thrive.

"I work out three times a week. I am generally into taking care of my fitness, the space that I am in is clean and well taken care of"

She also ensures she provides valuable information for her online community about professional options available.

"Therapy is one of the best things I've ever done for myself"
