Kenyan musician and songwriter Diana Mayonde Nduba has announced her musical comeback after a long hiatus.

The talented singer also opened up about her motherhood journey and the shock that came with it all.

On how it felt being back on stage after being away for some time Mayonde, who was performing at Blankets and Wines noted the moment was beyond surreal.

It felt really good, there's a moment when I sang my song Nairobi, and the audience just sang it right back and it was such a beautiful moment. I'm still reeling from it. I think I'll be thinking about it the whole week. So, I'm back to being on stage... It feels like a message from God to me.

Like the seeds have been planted and now it is time for harvesting," said the artist joyfully while speaking to Mpasho's Dennis Milimo.

Speaking about where she has been and what she has been up to during her break, Mayonde told Mpasho;

I have actually been in school!" She excitedly stated before adding, I was part of a program called Perform Music Incubator that was founded by Muthoni Drummer Queen.

It is like a business music school, and I have been in it for like 2 years just learning about the business side because I was very frustrated as an artist putting out art but not getting much in return. You're putting money into the craft, but it is not coming back."

Touching on motherhood, Mayonde who welcomed her little boy late last year gushed about how beautiful it was being a mom and watching her child grow.

"Omg It is amazing! I am so in love with my son. He is so beautiful and so bright. It is a miracle. It really is. Bringing life to this earth is a miracle. You really have to learn how to surrender because you are not in control of anything.

The whole experience made me more spiritual. It took me to a deeper place with God. Watching my son grow is one of the best experiences I've had in my life."

Finishing up, she maintained that labour was way more difficult and scarier than she had imagined.

"That is one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. It is so big, so scary, so much uncertainty. That was a huge surprise," she noted.
