Tanzanian singer Ben Pol regrets that he shared details about his faith.

The 'Kidani' hitmaker told Mpasho.co.ke that he wants people to focus on his music and his current project 'Kijanisha.'

Ben Pol said he has learnt to keep some things personal after his divorce with his Kenyan wife Anerlisa Muigai.

"After my divorce, I came to learn that there are some personal things which I should keep to myself. It is still not okay to speak about it," he said.

He added;

"Even at the moment, I would still want people to view me as an artiste and all religions to support me. It was not a good idea to come out and speak about it. I know that is God but just respect my private life."

In 2020, Ben Pol shared photos of himself in kanzus and a certificate to confirm he had 'converted' from Christianity to Islam.

Benpol also shared a couple of photos with two male witnesses, at the mosque after the recitation of the Shahadah.

Following the change in religion, Pol also acquired a new Islamic name “Behnam Paul Mnyang'anga”.

“Bismillah-Rahman-Nir-Rahim ?. 23.10.2020,” he captioned the photos.

On the comment section the singer was congratulated by his fellow entertainers and fans.

Diamond Platnumz wrote; “MashaAllah”.

Ommy Dimpoz on his part added; “Mabrook Mabrook.”

Idris Sultan posted, “Mabrook mashaallah Akhy ??????.”

During our interview, Ben Pol was asked if he would speak about his failed marriage in his upcoming album.

He said he would never reveal his private life to the public.

"I don't think it is important and I will not like it when my private life will be out there. Maybe in a way to inspire people but not my real story."

He explained that he had to see a therapist after his divorce.

"If you happen to be in my situation, you cannot just quit and live a normal life especially if you had invested your time and heart there," he said.

"I had to cope with the divorce and so I had to see a therapist. it is very important since life itself is challenging in so many ways."
