Award-winning model Lwako Bonnie, has opened up about dropping his degree course to pursue his love for the catwalk.
The Strathmore University Alumni says he has no regrets.
Bonnie says his parents were not impressed when he made the decision adding that they have since accepted his decision and are his biggest fan and supporters.
Speaking exclusively to Mpasho, he shared,
"I started modeling way back in campus, 2017 but ventured into it professionally in 2018. Modeling for me was a calling and that is how I ended up taking a break from my Finance Degree at Strathmore to fully pursue my passion."
Bonnie has worked with international brands such as Paledi Segapo from South Africa. Paledi is one of the top designers in SA having dressed Mafikizolo and Caterpillar shoes.
He has also worked with Tanzania's finest, Martin Kadinda. Other brands he has worked with include Dapper Luq from USA and Leah Misika from Namibia.
He is currently signed by Viva models in Qatar and Turkey. Speaking about his parent's reaction to him joining modeling, he shared,
"My parents have always been supportive though they were against it when I started I thank God they, later on, allowed me to pursue what I wanted."
His love, passion, and dedication to the runway saw him win 'Kenyan Male model of the year 2021'. Speaking on how he felt about winning he said,
"It feels great knowing that people out here notice and appreciate the efforts that I make in the fashion industry and my efforts to take modeling to the next level in Kenya. This has encouraged me to work harder."
Bonnie plans on launching his cloth line, Lwako Couture. Given he is in his late 20s, he has achieved something most people only dream of.
