Sauti Sol member Savara Mudigi has revealed a vow he took with rapper Nyashinski.

According to Savara, they had agreed not to sing a song for their mothers, but he broke the vow recently in his hit song 'Fashionista'.

"Fashionista is a song for my mum. We had agreed with Nyashinski to never do mama love songs. I had said I will not spoil a dope song trying to sing a love song for my mother," Savara said.

In the exclusive interview with Mpasho, Savara revealed what made him change his mind and compose a song for his mum.

"But as I started writing the album, I recalled how my mum raised me up with a 'cherehani'. My mum had 3 stalls at Kariobangi market. When school fees would lack, my mum would give me cash from Jua Kali.

On Sunday, I dared to go to church without ironing my clothes I would be in trouble. I think she was instilling the fashionistas precision in me," he explained.

The song was named Fashion Killer at first. In the song, Savara sings about how his mum is a fashionista, was a breadwinner and also a prayer warrior.
