There will be no Christmas break for all security officers as part of efforts to keep the country safe.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi directed that the officials be on duty and coordinate on various issues that will keep the country safe.

The officers include police and members of the National Government Administration Officers (Regional, County, Deputy County, Assistant County Commissioners, chiefs and assistant chiefs.

The decision is a presidential directive by the president in his capacity as Chairman of the National Security Council.

He said all security agents are ordered to be on high alert over the festive season bearing in mind political upheavals in neighbouring countries.

He spoke Wednesday during the installation of Senior Principal Chief Roika ole Shira at Kekurro location, Kajiado County.

The CS urged citizens to exercise vigilance and caution in their surroundings during the period.

He also told chiefs and assistant chiefs to demonstrate loyalty to the government of the day and to unequivocally support.
