Did the Ndichu twins have a gun? Detectives investigate

A new team of detectives has taken over the probe into claims by two sisters that they were assaulted by twin brothers Edward and Paul Ndichu.

The two sisters Stephanie 24 and Cheryl Murgor 22 were on Monday summoned by the new investigation team at DCIO Langata and questioned over the drama.

They were in the company of their lawyer who is also their uncle Philip Murgor and George Ouma when they appeared before Langata DCI offices.

They had earlier on recorded their statements at Akila police station before the Langata team took over.

This came as CCTV footage of the drama on October 17 emerged on social media capturing part of the events that occurred.

The footage partially shows two women fighting at the lobby of the Emara Ole Sereni Hotel and one of the brothers punching a man to the ground before he broke the mirrors of a car.

The two sisters narrated their story in a statement to the detectives in a three-hour session before they left.

Murgor said they were there as complainants and they expect nothing short of justice.

“We were with the police for further statements who have handled us professionally as complainants and the new witness was also issued with a P3 to be filled out by a police doctor. We look forward to the course of justice by the charging of the suspect as soon as possible,” he said.

He said some of the select videos being circulated on social media are biased as they do not show the whole story.

The officers also recorded a statement from a witness in the case who was also assaulted in the drama and issued him with a P3 form.

They also obtained official records of the M-Pesa transaction between the Ndichu brothers and Samuel whose car was damaged.

The team also inspected the car that was damaged during the drama and was photographed by the Scene of Crime personnel.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions had also asked police to confirm if the Ndichu brothers were armed and if they are licensed, firearm holders.

Police said they were waiting for a report from the Firearms Licensing Board on the same.

The sisters and the other complainants had claimed the twin brothers threatened to shoot them as they beat them up both inside and outside the hotel.

The officers confirmed that the Ndichus and their lady friend will in due course be summoned for their side of the story.

Police officers who attended the scene have also recorded their statements.

This came as other sources said there were efforts being made to reconcile the parties and sort the matter out of court.

Stephanie had last week said she was strangled by one of the brothers and left with difficulties in swallowing food. Her sister had bite marks on her wrist and bruises out of the beating.

The two women run a designer clothesline in the city.

They said they were attending a wedding after-party at the hotel on the 10th floor and were accompanied by two friends Samuel Ramdas and Patrick Koech.

At about 2.30 am, one of the twin brothers allegedly made an improper pass at Stephanie to which she told him she knows him as a husband to Janet Mbugua.

The lady who was with the brothers shouted ex-husband. When Stephanie left, one of the brothers verbally assaulted her referring to her as a bitch.

“Suddenly, the brother in dark clothes jumped onto Stephanie and grabbed her by the throat. When her boyfriend Samuel attempted to rescue her, he was also grabbed by the throat,” Cheryl said.

The two sisters walked to the lift area where more confrontation broke out as they tried to get to their car.

At the entrance, one of the brothers violently broke the right-hand door side mirror while the other one broke the left-hand side one before they again went to attack Cheryl.

“During the incident, the brothers threatened to shoot them,” he said.

The Ndichu brothers then pleaded to pay for the damage of the car mirrors and a dent at Sh110,000.

“One of the brothers proceeded to pay via Mpesa after which they both went back to the hotel. However, immediately thereafter, the transaction was reversed. At no point did the young ladies accept any compensation for the assault or injury to themselves,” Murgor said.

They made a report at Akila police station and were issued with P3 forms for injuries including a bite injury on Cheryl and tenderness on Stephanie's neck.

The woman who was with the Ndichu twins later issued a statement terming the claims by the sisters lies.

Munira Hassan claimed she was assaulted by the Murgor sisters and produced a medical report that shows she had bruises.

She added the twin brothers were trying to help out of the beating from one of the Murgor sisters and her boyfriend.

“As a result, my hair was painfully plucked from my scalp… I was unconscious for a few seconds and left with bruises on my body and a bloody scar on my forehead as per the attached medical report,” she said.

“The twins ran back in to help me and get this crazy lady off me because she wouldn’t let my hair go.”

Paul and Eddie have distanced themselves from the assault allegations saying the viral video does not correctly show what transpired.

The brothers said they do not condone or support violence against women and that on the night of the incident, they did not assault any woman as claimed.
