• Abdi ordered the shoes online not knowing that he was to give them to Raila Odinga.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga amazed Kenyans with a stylish fashion displayed during a meeting with youths from Mt Kenya.
One notable style was his blue and white Nike Air Jordan shoes gifted to him by Kenyan designer, Ali Abdi alias Nairobi West Niccur.
Speaking to Mpasho, Abdi revealed that he ordered the shoes online not knowing that he was to give them to Raila Odinga.
The designer was tricked into buying the shoes by Raila Odinga's close relative.
The man was one of Abdi's loyal customers, and he knew that he was related to the Odingas.
“One day Hillary ordered sneakers that were not his size. He told me to deliver them to their home.
When I got there I was scared, he said he wants me to meet someone special, all over a sudden I saw Raila Odinga. We gave him the sneakers and hoodies,” Ali shared.
The fashion enthusiast said he felt proud to give Raila one of his products as he recognized his impacts to the Kenyan youth.
Abdi is the owner of Thrift Trendy and La Beaste, brands that deal with shoes, clothing, and other fashion accessories.
His business, he says, started with hawking on Nairobi streets and later grew into an online store and stall located at Imenti House, Nairobi.
The designer has dressed other Kenyan celebrities such as Musicians Otile Brown, Khaligraph Jones MP Babu Owino.
This year, Abdi won a deal with international brand 'Fashion Nova'.
