On Wednesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta revised the COVID-19 containment measures.

In one of the orders, the ban on public gatherings was extended for 60 days.

Among the citizens who are disadvantaged from the directive are those in the creatives industry.

Politicians have been transversing the country, doing campaigns, yet artists are blocked from hosting gatherings.

Speaking exclusively to Mpasho, Comedian MCA Tricky questioned why the government has been employing double standards on this directive.

"We are just like them, if we disappear, our brands are forgotten. Without physical interactions, we can not make money. I made money from corporate Mcing, that is what made me who I am today. Right now companies are doing their events virtually," MCA Tricky said.

According to the comedian, creatives have adapted to the new normal by showcasing their work online, but the space isn't enough.

"Some people are taking loans to advance their brands, only for the government to frustrate you on grounds that you have not followed COVID protocols. We are having a rough time. Creatives adopted by going online, but the online space can not accommodate everyone."

On behalf of other creatives, MCA tricky called for fair play and joined efforts to stop the spread of the disease.

"We know that COVID is serious, we won't be careless enough to expose fans. But we want to be given a fair playground. If the government decides there are no gatherings, let them do away with all types so as to stop the spread. If politicians won't stop doing it, then there will be no end to this."

His advice is that if the government continues to apply the rules selectively, then they should also be allowed to host limited events.

He also called for the elimination of curfew, urging the government to focus on vaccinating Kenyans.
