Meru Senator Mithika Linturi has refuted claims that he sexually assaulted a married woman at a luxury resort in Nanyuki.
According to court documents, the woman (name withheld) alleged that Linturi gripped her suggestively after mistakenly getting into her room.
She says she had left the door open as her husband was still outside.
In an exclusive phone call interview with Maina Kageni, Linturi now says he is being politically targeted to dim his political career.
"Maina, I am okay and I am on my way to Meru for a political launch.
I am not afraid because I know who I am. I am focused because I know what I want.
Being a state officer all my life I admit that my life is open to public scrutiny, I am also accountable to the public for things that I do.
I have been a victim of a conspiracy by the DCI and the DPP.
Look at the cases that I have been charged with I am always the first complainant and they turn me into suspects because they bring politics into it."
