Class 7 pupil arrested for being in possession of 5 litres of petrol

A 17-year-old pupil from Kaumbuni Primary School was arrested while in possession of 5 litres of petrol in a jerricans at Kola market in Makueni Sub-county on Sunday.

The pupil was carrying the 5 litre jerrican full of petrol wrapped in a bag when the officers from Kola Police Station made the arrest for interrogation as to what was his motive behind the purchase of the highly inflammable liquid gas.

                Confirming the Sunday morning incident, Makueni County Police Commander Mr. Joseph Ole Naipeyan however the suspect was a notorious pupil who has has been arrested three times before for various offences.

                "It is true the pupil is in primary school and has previously been arrested in connection with breakings and stealing. The suspect is in custody and helping the police with investigations," he said this on Sunday while speaking to KNA.

                Consequently, he said the suspect, who was arrested while dressed in school uniform, will be arraigned in court where he will be charged for preparing to commit a felony.
