Bahati's EMB Records label was closed down a year ago following unresolved wrangles with signed artists.

He said that artists he had inspired started attacking him and defaming his character.

“They started acting as if my money is coming from them, and to fight Bahati wakaanza kutafuta njia vile watanisingizia. Most of these artistes wenye nilikuwa nachukuwa walikuwa wameisha nikawarudisha kwa industry, but all of a sudden Bahati amekuchukuwa amekubrand nimechukuwa a new artiste nimembrand, mtu anaanza kufeel kama nikichukuwa huyu nimchoche a fight Bahati," he lamented.

Recently Bahati was elated to be chosen as Kenya's representative at the Africa Day Concert 2021.

He could not hide his joy, saying that his brand had gained international recognition.
