Rapper Wangechi is about to make history in the Kenya music scene. She is about to record a song with Grammy Award-nominated American singer Ne Yo when he jets into the country next week. He will be coming for Coke Studio Africa. Last year’s edition saw Wyclef Jean record a song with rapper Kaka Sungura.

This is not the first time Wangechi is collaborating with an international artiste. She has worked with South Africa’s HHP in Rabbit’s “Tulia Tu.”

“I feel like the collabo with Ne Yo is a dream come true. It’s one of those moments where…when they come you’re like, I’m I dreaming or I’m I awake? And it’s one of the most uplifting news I’ve ever gotten since everything that happened. I feel like I am going to make the most out of it and I’m going to do my very, very best to be something that he remembers from Kenya,” she told me in an exclusive interview yesterday.

This comes after a period of recovery after she was involved in an accident last year. It took away her best friend Tiona Wangechi and left her in the hospital and coping with several months of recuperation.
