Citizen TV's Swahili news anchor Swaleh Mdoe has lost his father Ali Buku after battling throat cancer for months. Mdoe says he got a call on Sunday afternoon confirming that his dear father died at 12:40PM.

Mpasho.co.ke has reached out to Mdoe who says his dad was living with his sister before the demise.

He has been sick for some time. He was moved from Mombasa where he stays and was taken to Malindi to stay with his elder sister. For the last one month he has been there.

This week, he was discharged from Malindi hospital but was under medication.

The burial will be in Malindi.

I will remember him as my father, baba ni baba. 

May his soul rest in peace.
