Ex-radio host Angwenyi’s home faces auction after NYS probe former radio presenter Angela Angwenyi has lost her house to auctioneers.
The auctioneers are set to sell the apartment at Jacaranda Gardens estate in Nairobi after she ran into financial difficulties.
Yesterday, Garam Auctioneers placed a newspaper advertisement announcing that the apartment was up for auction.
“Our subject property is part of Jacaranda estate along R&M-ti Road just after the Northern bypass,” the notice read.
Angwenyi and a firm associated with her won a Sh302 million consultancy job which saw her get embroiled in the National Youth Service scandal.
In 2018, Angela’s bank accounts were among those frozen over the ongoing investigations on the National Youth Service scandal.
Angwenyi’s bank account was among 115 other accounts that have been frozen in 14 banks for a period of three months.
In 2016, she was quizzed by Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) over a Sh302 million consultancy contract she landed at NYS.
This was after the Auditor General Edward Ouko, in a special audit report on the accounts of the NYS, questioned the hefty payments to Angwenyi’s firm which was among other private companies that did business with the service.
