Young acrobat Wendy Waeni has been trending for three days now.

Waeni? Read The Heartbreaking Controversy Surrounding Her Life

The 11-year-old standard seven pupil at Daima Primary is the center of attention.

This is after she, through her manager Joe Mwangi exposed Hot 96 presenter Jalang'o as a con. According to a post that has gone viral, Jalang'o owes the young girl Sh.4,500.

“JALANG’O WHEN ARE YOU PAYING MY KSH 4,500 THAT YOU RAN AWAY WITH WHEN I WAS STILL STRUGGLING IN THIS INDUSTRY..??,

INCASE YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN LET ME JUST REMIND YOU THAT ON THAT DAY YOU ALMOST MADE US WALK FROM MOMBASA RD TO HURUMA.

HII DUNIA NI NDOGO SANA. BEFORE JUMPING TO COMMENT ON MY POSTS YOU WOULD HAVE REM WHAT YOU DID SOMETIMES BACK…!!” READ WAENI’S POST.

We called Jalang'o for a comment and he refuted these claims

“JOE MWAS MWANGI ASKED FOR AN INTERVIEW ON RADIO MAISHA WHEN I WAS STILL THERE AND I GAVE THEM A CHANCE. ALL WENT WELL AND AFTER A FEW WEEKS, WAENI’S MANAGER BEGGED FOR AN INTERVIEW ON MY SHOW JALANG’O WITH THE MONEY (WHICH IS OVER NOW)AND I AGREED. BEFORE THEY CAME MWAS ASKED ME TO GIVE THEM MONEY FOR THEIR CAB FARE TO THE SHOW AND THE PRODUCER OF THE SHOW SENT HIM SH.5,000 ON MPESA.

AFTER THE SHOW, WENDY’S MANAGER DEMANDED ANOTHER SH. 5,000 FOR CAB FARE BACK HOME BUT THIS TIME ROUND, HE WAS NOT GIVEN BUT THEY ORGANISED TRANSPORT FOR THEM. I WAS NOT MEANT TO GIVE OUT MONEY APART FROM THOSE WHO WERE PARTICIPATING,” JALANG’O TOLD MPASHO on phone.

Kenyans on social media have already started a trending hashtag #SaveWaenistalent. Here are some of the comments;

Terencecreative: It is time you grow up and have some respect. There are many talented girls out there more than Wendy Waeni but people opt to give her an opportunity and platform to grow. Kindly stop teaching this kid how to be money minded or rather stop making money in the name of Wendy Waeni. When we interviewed Waeni she said she wanted to change her mum's life and move her from Huruma, but I doubt she will move if you continue with this soliciting behaviour.

I challenge you bwana Joe as the manager, show us what change have you brought to Waeni. Beside parading her on Instagram showing people that she is okay but she aint, stop blocking opportunities for this innocent kid, let the kid grow her talent peacefully and with the right morals, hiyo tabia ya kuambia mtoto aitishe kitu akikutana na wakubwa and pestering people that made promises to her. My prayer is that you stop viewing Wendy as a business opportunity but rather view her as a talent that needs to grow. I know you well and I'll be expecting your insults and of those people that don't see the seriousness of this matter. #SaveWaenistalent

Xtiandela: Well put!!!!! Aki huyu mtoi huteseka sana..I remember when we were doing Gillad Live, mtoi aliwekwa kwa mvua na baridi cha lazima so that she can just have a few moments of fame..then after all that you hear a greedy manager is taking the lion's share of the cash..So sad...Sijui we get Kenyans to #SaveWendyWaeni From the manager ama Nini? Am sure there are a lot of stories we don't even know that will pop up..Siku za Mwizi ni Arobaini!!!'#SaveWendyWaeni

Sue: That manager is petty AF.....Am sure he is just using her for his own selfish interests. Praying for that beautiful kid #SaveWendyWaeni

Nyawiragachugi: It breaks my heart to think this lovely girl is so talented. May Justice prevail for Wendy, who only wants the best for her mother. #SaveWendyWaeni

The story is painting a bad picture of the poor girl and we contacted Mwas, her manager for his side of the story and here is what he pointed out.

  1. Jalas is on record through an Instagram post saying there was no such agreement, Now he contradicts himself by admitting there was an agreement of 10k. Why now?

2. No Kenyan artist made Wendy who she is so they should stop pretending to "care" about her future.

3. The whole thing in question is about Wendys future, yes Wendy has bank accounts (3 for Ksh and 1 dollar account that she will only access when she is 18 years old). We really find it malicious that people can judge that we simply don't mind about Wendy's future.

4. It's wrong to assume that Wendy's mother can let anyone exploit her kid for personal gains. You mean all members of Wendy's family are "foolish" to let someone use one of their own? Why should anyone else apart from Wendy's mother complain about Wendy's exploitation? Does it make sense?

5. Wendy Waeni is going for her England tour this weekend and I would request the so called artists to leave her in peace. Let them work hard to raise their brand to Wendy's level

Mwas further attached a press release and here it is. Read through

PRESS STATEMENT ON THE CONTINUED MALICIOUS ATTACKS ON WENDY WAENI:

NAIROBI, mangement KENYA: Tuesday 16th 2017 Wendy Waeni's family and the management team has read with concern false reports appering on social media and print media and we wish to adress the following;

(a)We find it unfair that some respected personalities in the entertainment industry can go ballistic on social media with false accusation against a fellow artist who has a right to address and voice her concerns just like any other artist/Kenyan.

(b) On this case, it's from an Instagram post that Wendy Waeni posted on Sat 1 th 2017 against one Felix Odiwour famously known as “Jalang’o” which stated that 3 years ago Jalas failed to honour an agreement. It is on record that Jalas denied these claims

publicly to clear his name but it is now clear that he lied. This comes after his former producer known as Milly Chebby disclosed publicly that it was indeed true there was an agreement but it wasn’t honoured, confirming Wendy Waenis claims.On this matter, we feel one Felix owes Wendy Waeni and the entire social media family for lying.

(c) Wendy Waeni’s family has noted deeply an abusive post made by one Chris Kirwa who is a respected personality and who upto date is a close friend to Wendy Waeni, he reffered Wendy Waeni to as a “POOR CHILD” and as a family we feel this was a total abusive and disrespectful to Wendy Waeni. We therefore request Chris Kirwa to make an apology on the same platform he used.

On the same post by chris Kirwa he claimed that the manager to Wendy Waeni is just a con who is using her to enrich himself. As a family we would like to request Kirwa to confirm the folliowing;

-Where he got such information

-Who gave him the information

-Why and for who was he speaking on behalf

As a family we wish to clarify that Kirwa wasn’t speaking on our behalf, we are satisfied with how Joe manages Wendy Waeni and as a family we cannot allow anyone to exploit Wendy as Kirwa claimed. We therefore request Kirwa to apologise to the family &

to the management team. It is on record that Kirwa has now pulled down the alleged post, why did he pull it down if whatever he posted was true?

We also wish to request those spreading such claims on social media to stop and respect Wendy Waeni regardless of her age. We wish to say that there is no fomular of airing and voicing the truth so we maintain Wendy Waeni has right to voice her concerns and that should be respected. We wish to express that we feel there are some people somewhere who have an aim of trying to bring down Wendy Waeni’s brand for unknown reason but that will not stop her from aiming high.

MAGDALENE MBELE

MOTHER.

JOE MWANGI

LEAD MANAGER."

Who is fooling Kenyans on Wendy Waeni's story? Is it her manager, Jalang'o or Kenyan artistes in general?
