Kenya’s most followed and award winning comedian Eric Omondi, in an interview with Radio Maisha’s Connect with hosts Mwende Macharia and Clemo suggested to having lost sponsors and endorsements over his recent controversial exploits with his show ‘Wife Material’.

The show which he recently divulged as a charade and all scripted has been criticized by a fraction of netizens as sexist and demeaning to women.

Most argued that Eric used the lasses for selfish motives and consequently tarnished their image.

He countered those allegations by playing forth the flip card. Claiming that there would be no furore if it were men involved.

The dramatic show which took the form of a competition all complete with elimination stage came with fiscal ramifications.

Most sponsors pulled out citing ethical reasons, saying they needed more family oriented content which he had since dissented from.

He admitted that one of them - ironically - a betting company which he declined to disclose was a huge dent to his finances.

He claimed that the economic gains he had made in 2020 have declined significantly after sponsors pulled the rug from under his feet.

Nonetheless, he thanked his followers for watching the show since their massive viewership resulted in more endorsements which he wishes to exploit.

The comedian also revealed ongoing talks for him to replace the contested Magic Kenya International Tourism Ambassador which the ministry had conferred to Naomi Campbell.
