A Kenyan woman recently took to social media to narrate how she narrowly escaped being drugged and raped by rogue matatu operators.

Karimi Mwari said she boarded a matatu (KAS 253V) and decided to sit next to the driver fearing that something would happen to her if she sat behind.

Unbeknownst to her was that she had played right into the hands of the driver and tout. As soon as she had settled in, the driver grabbed her bag and started pulling it while a second man who was wearing a white head gear (presumably an Akorino) locked the door before dropping some keys into her shirt.

Upon turning, Mwari says she saw the driver holding a syringe and it is then that it dawned on her that was in trouble and needed to do something to free herself.

The woman said she used her bag to hit the driver nose and used elbowed the man who had a white head gear before jumping out of the matatu.

When she got out, Mwari noticed that her bag was open and her phone, credit cards and some money she had been paid were missing.

She also noticed that some ladies she had boarded the matatu with looked unconscious at the back like they had been drugged. Mwari took photos of her assailants and the matatu in question before running into Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

After cooling off, she decided to go to the police station to report the matter but the men in blue seemed not to care about the other girls after she told him that they might have been drugged.
