Felix Orinda alias DJ Evolve has shared why he forgave MP Babu Owino after he shot him at a club in the city.

He was shot in January 2020 leaving him bedridden for years. He currently uses a wheelchair to move around. He is still undergoing Physiotherapy to help him gain full mobility.

In an interview with Citizen TV's Lilian Muli, Evolve shared that he forgave Owino to focus on getting well and avoid falling into depression.

" As much as I keep asking myself these questions, as much as I keep thinking of these things and there is no solution  I will end up depressed.

When I started accepting what had happened and I started seeking solutions from where I was I started feeling alive again.

You have to learn life again."

How did the experience change him?

"You have to learn life again It has been an experience, I got to learn things I did not know about myself and how resilient I am.

I am studying for new courses eg IT, I have been into coding for the last couple of months, and I have also been thinking of concepts to actualize. My interest is still in music but I can fuse my new interests with what I was doing before."

I got my voice back recently, I just woke up one day and I was just whispering. Getting my voice back was one of my biggest wins.

Before I decided to forgive, all these things were in my head, how my life was, how it is and how it will be onwards.

Where does he draw his strength from

'God, that is what has taken me through this journey.

Forgiveness has also played a part. When you carry a burden in your heart and you have all these things weighing you down.

And you have nothing else to do, you have to be strong.

What is his medical routine

'Being home is therapy on its own.

I was taught to strengthen my core and sit, and my diaphragm so that I can breath well. I am now regaining some sensation in my legs.

I can recognize pain, We are also working on regaining functionality in my hands.

The medication I take, the side effect is aging weight. I look forward to doing the things I used to do."

A year ago (2023) Embakasi East MP Babu Owino alias Paul Ongili  told a Nairobi court that he has spent Sh58.6 million to take care of medical bills and the upkeep of DJ Evolve alias Felix Orinda.

Babu said he took responsibility for Elvove, saying it is a sign of his moral obligation as a leader.

He was defending himself on Thursday after the court found he had a case to answer for misusing a firearm that shot DJ Evolve at B Club in 2020.

"I took charge of the life-saving initiative and endeavours of Felix Orinda as a leader. And that would be inconsistent with a person who intended to harm," Owino told the court.

Owino told Milimani senior principal magistrate Bernard Ochoi that if he did not take the initiative, Evolve could have died.

"Total bills accumulated to Sh23 million as DJ Evolve was in the ICU. He was immobile and could not move. I bought an apartment at Kilimani at around Sh17 million and hired two nurses, 2 physiotherapists 1 occupational therapist which upto date am paying Sh300,000 per month.

" I have paid Sh11.1 million and it's still going on for 37 months. I take care of his upkeep of Sh70,000 per month to pay bills and food. Medicine is Sh80,000 per month totalling Sh5.5 million for 37 months," he said.

"The last surgery that cost Sh2 million which made him speak was done in Nairobi. So far I have spent Sh58.6 million on Evolve."

He said he plans to buy a motor vehicle and help set up a DJ school for him.
