Music is a force to reckon with, and Kenya alone is proof of the power it holds.

Kenyan songs have throughout the years proven to be a movement, not just for entertainment, but to move political and economic messages. 

Most recently has been the Arbantone song Anguka Nayo by rap Duo Wadagliz, that saw it dubbed the Anti protest song used by Gen Z from June 2024.

It was and continues to be a song used to shape the perception Kenyans have of politics and inspire change.

Here are some reasons to listen to music: 

- Music can be good for your health: According to some researchers, listening to music can reduce anxiety, blood pressure, and pain as well as improve sleep quality, mood, mental alertness, and memory.

-Music helps one to reminisce: It reminds us of past memories, relationships, key milestones that have happened in our lives.

- Music can make one feel all forms of emotions, whether sad, happy, calm, excited and this one of the main reasons music is used in events, movies to convey a message setting mood for the people.

- Music also can bring back memories from the past. By just listening to a song, you can recall a phenomenon that happened to you some years back. Reminding us of people, places, or just important moments of our lives. 

- Listen to music to alter your mood - It also can be a type of therapy, to set the mood after a long day, to deal with mental health matters like anxiety, depression, and trauma.

- Music for entertainment - The uniting factor of music in concerts, festivals or other events is another compelling reason to listen to music.

- To encourage creativity - Learning different music is also fun especially if instruments are involved. One gets to learn playing a certain instrument which blends better when used in making of different tunes and beats.

- Music is just more than sound. It helps in remembrance, language development.
