In 2017, Lillian Nganga, who was then the First Lady of Machakos, lost her driver, Philip, in a tragic accident. Philip passed away shortly after dropping off Lillian, and seven years later, she still deeply misses him.

Taking to her social media, she expressed her feelings, captioning, "Wish you were still here," and further adding, "Philip, 7 years gone, yet I sometimes find myself calling my driver Philip. Never forgotten!"

Lilian revealed that she constantly compares Philip to the drivers she has had since his passing. She wrote, "My driver, Philip, died seven years ago. If you've ever had a driver, you know how big of a role they play in your life. I mourn him to this day, and it's terrible because I can't help but compare all the drivers I've had after him. What gives me peace is that he knew I valued him and appreciated all he did. Good people are never forgotten."

A few years ago, Lilian expressed her disappointment at how quickly life moved on after Philip's death. "I got a new driver the following morning.

The two incidents hit me hard. That disregard for their lives, just because they were security officers, also contributed to my separating from Alfred. I thought, so if it were me dead, is this how life would have continued?"

The accident occurred when a saloon car they were traveling in collided head-on with a Toyota Land Cruiser on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.

According to police reports, the accident took place in the Lukenya area after the driver of the Land Cruiser, heading toward Nairobi, attempted to overtake another vehicle and rammed into the oncoming saloon car, which belonged to the County Government of Machakos.

The crash claimed the lives of two police officers and two Machakos County employees, while the driver of the Land Cruiser sustained minor injuries and was rushed to Mater Hospital for treatment.
