Eddie Butita, the CEO of the SPM Buzz blog, revealed that he and American television star Steve Harvey are now friends and close buddies.

Speaking with Oga Obinna, Butita disclosed that since President Ruto facilitated his meeting with Harvey in May at Tyler Perry’s studios during his U.S. visit, the two have become such good friends that they exchange funny memes and jokes on WhatsApp.

“I met Steve Harvey. I call him Stevo; he’s my boy. We’ve become close and now we exchange memes. That’s how far we’ve come. But the first time I met Harvey face-to-face, I was thrilled,” Butita said.

Butita also discussed how his trip to the U.S. with President Ruto, which eventually led to a visit to the White House, earned him significant criticism from Gen Z youth.

He mentioned that many young people viewed him as a traitor to their movement that called for President Ruto to step down, due to his close association with him, which saw him included in a group of about 30 people who traveled with the President to the USA.

“I have never really talked about that U.S. visit in detail because I was criticized afterward. I was just there to learn a thing or two from Tyler Perry’s studios. I was there as an artist, not a politician. Unfortunately, some people saw it as a political move. But I accept that because those blessings were too great for some people to accept,” Butita explained.

He said he thinks some people were dissatisfied with his inclusion in the President’s trip and were waiting for a chance to express their displeasure, which they did during Gen Z protests.
