Former Nation Media journalist Nasibo Kabale, known for her work as a health and science reporter, was diagnosed with depression in 2020 after extensively covering COVID-19 updates.

Her passion for writing began in primary school, where she gained recognition for an article about her role model.

Throughout her career, Nasibo worked with three different media stations, earning respect from her colleagues for her insightful reporting and unique perspective.

Her first encounter with COVID-19 occurred during an interview at Mbagathi Hospital, an experience that left her deeply traumatized and anxious about her safety and that of her child.

In 2020, Nasibo received a state commendation award for her contributions to health journalism. However, the pressures of her job and the isolation from her child took a toll on her mental health, leading to her hospitalization twice for depression.

Her condition also caused her to miss work, ultimately resulting in the loss of her job. This period of struggle led her to heavy drinking and a period of homelessness.

During an interview with Aisha Khan on YouTube, Nasibo shared her experiences and the support she received from her family. "My family has been incredibly supportive, but I wanted to be independent. That’s why I chose this path rather than being directed by others," she explained.

Nasibo is now open to receiving help and is determined to turn her life around. She is grateful for the support from well-wishers who have stepped in to assist her in getting back on track.
