Award winning journalist Nasibo Kabale

Health Journalist Nasibo Kabale has been trending after a video of her living on the streets emerged.

Many wondered what could have gone wrong for the journalist who once rubbed shoulders with the high and the mighty.

Nasibo has explained how she ended up on the streets in an undated video.

"I went to the US To study but I  couldn't finish my education so I came back home. I went to Kenya  Methodist.

I used to live in Kilimani but I later moved to Kawangware when I wasn't working. I wasn't getting a salary."

Nasibo confirmed she is indeed battling depression.

"In 2020 when I was awarded with the State Commendation I was diagnosed with depression.

I was admitted and then I was put on medication for depression and anxiety. I coped after a year I was admitted.

The third time I was admitted, I turned to alcohol because It took a bit of struggle between work and life and people would say 'nikujiwekelea tu'

I used alcohol as a tool instead of medication. I resigned because work was heavy and I couldn't cope. I resigned in 2020.

Then from there I started doing free lance work. The drinking became heavy and that is how I ended up here (on the streets)

Is her family supportive?

'My family has been really supportive I can't lie. It's just that I want to be independednt.

That's why I chose rather than being home and being told what to do I chose to focus on myself. If I did it once I can do it again am just looking for a second chance."

Nasibo has since been taken to a rehab.

The news was shared by Eric Omondi after he visited her home.

"Hey guys...Visited Nasibo's home in Jamhuri today. She was flown to a rehab this morning by her brother. The mother says she'll be okay and has requested for our prayers...God bless you🙏."

She says she grew up in a middle calss family.

She attended State House Primary before proceeding to Maryhill. Nasibo went to study at The University of Central Missouri, She later graduated at Kenya Methodist University.
