Former health Journalist Nasibo Kabale now living on the streets

Award winning journalist Nasibo Kabale

Award winning journalist Nasibo Kabale is currently living on the streets after she fell into depression.

Kabale who was among journalists covering the Covid-19 pandemic hopes to recover and reunite with her daughter.

She was a health journalist at Nation Media Group.

In a video doing rounds on social media, Nasibo is heard sharing challenges she has been going through in the streets.

'How is life on the streets?' Asked the interviewer

To which Nasibo responded

"It's very hard living on the streets.

The guy am living with treats me how he wants because he thinks I have nothing.

He provides everything so he treats me how he wants.

If I had an option I would have left."

She added that what hurts her the most is

'The fact that  sina mtoto wangu( I do not have my child.)

What do you miss the most? Asked the person behind the camera.

'Independence, Being able to go wherever you want and treating yourself.

Now because of lack of financial independence someone treats you how the want."

How much does she earn?

" I work Monday and Friday (searching for plastic and metals).

I have learned a lot of things while doing so. 

I have lost weight, other than that am fine. 

Luckily I haven't contracted Pneumonia because of the cold."

Nasibo is a graduate from The University of Central Missouri with a bachelors degree in communication and Media studies from Kenya Methodist University.

She is currently living in the streets of Kibera.
