First Lady Rachael Ruto launched a pilot program for kitchen gardens called Mama Kitchen Gardens at State House Nairobi.

The project is aimed at promoting food and nutritional security .

The move has however left Kenyans divided with many wondering why she couldn't launch something more 'meaningful' as most Kenyans already have kitchen gardens.

Netizens did not respond positively to her project  and expressed their displeasure as shown below

The program aims is to empower women by encouraging them to cultivate flourishing kitchen gardens in their own backyards.

"I launched a pilot program for the National Kitchen Gardens project,  which is part of broader national food security initiative led by women across all counties. The initiative Mama Kitchen Gardens seek to inspire women to cultivate kitchen gardens near their homes." she wrote

She announced that the project will offer urban families enhanced training in modern urban farming techniques.
