The fastest athlete in Africa, Kenyan sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala, finished in second place in the 100 meters at a competition held in Zagreb, Croatia.

Omanyala secured second place, but there is still hope for him after previously recording poor results within the past month.

American athlete Lindsey Courtney won the race with a time of 9.97 seconds, ahead of Omanyala who finished with 10.02 seconds.

In the race, Omanyala started off slow but pushed hard to secure his second-place finish.

Omanyala was the defending champion in the Zagreb race, having won the previous year's event in 2023.

He was seeking victory after reaching the finals at the Olympic Games held in France, where he finished in seventh place.

Omanyala also finished seventh in the Diamond League races held in Rome, with Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo claiming the win.

It is currently unclear whether he will participate in the Diamond League Finals. He is currently in 12th place with 9 points, with the top eight athletes qualifying for the finals.

Omanyala will now focus on the World Championships scheduled for 2025 in Tokyo, Japan.
