YY Comedian is a man of many talents and is currently in the spotlight after his wife, Marya Okoth, announced their split on September 6.

In a recent interview with Dr. Ofweneke on "Lessons at 30," YY opened up about his relationship and shared insights on what it takes to maintain a successful celebrity partnership.

When asked about the secret to a successful relationship, YY said, "I don’t think there’s a secret. If there were, I wouldn’t share it. I believe it’s about having a plan and approaching it objectively. What are our projections?"

He stressed the importance of setting short- and long-term goals, using Marya as an example.

"When I met Marya, she was in college, studying interior design, which was her primary focus. She was also an actress. I saw her potential and invested in her creativity, even though the returns weren’t immediate," YY explained.

He shared how he encouraged Marya to build her brand, including starting a YouTube channel, where he invested both time and money.

"Initially, the YouTube channel wasn’t bringing in any money. I had to spend around 40,000 to produce an episode that didn’t yield immediate returns. To some, it might seem foolish, but I believed in her potential," he said, noting that he wanted to "enter with a bang."

When asked why he invested so much in Marya, YY responded, "Invest in a woman, whether they appreciate it or not. I believe in doing good without expecting anything in return. Expectation is what kills relationships. I’ve seen situations where you help a woman, and they may or may not be grateful, but that doesn’t change who I am."

YY also shared his thoughts on breakups, advising that even if a relationship ends, one should aim to build an ex they can be proud of. "When entering relationships, we should remember we’re human. People break up—it happens. We shouldn’t just think about forever, because sometimes it doesn’t work out," he said.
