Sir Elton John made his first public appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival, just days after revealing that an eye infection had left him with limited vision.

The 77-year-old music legend arrived at the festival on Friday, accompanied by his husband, David Furnish.

Elton John was in Toronto for the world premiere of the documentary Elton John: Never Too Late, which chronicles his life and his farewell performance at Los Angeles' Dodger Stadium in 2022. The film is set to premiere on Disney+ in December.

Earlier in the week, Sir Elton shared on Instagram with his nearly five million followers that he had been struggling with a severe eye infection over the summer.

He disclosed that the infection had left him with limited vision in one eye and that his recovery has been a slow process. "I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process, and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye," he wrote.

Sir Elton expressed his gratitude to the medical team and his family for their care during this difficult period and shared that he had been quietly recuperating at home over the summer. Despite the challenges, he remains positive about his progress.

The Toronto International Film Festival also hosted the world premiere of Unstoppable, a biographical sports film starring Jennifer Lopez.

The film is produced by Oscar-winners Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, Lopez's husband, from whom she is currently divorcing after two years of marriage. Affleck did not attend the event, and the couple has yet to comment on their divorce.
